I just quit smoking, what kind of lung and recovery can i expect?

I have been a moderate smoker (no more than 15 a day) for the past 11 months, i know not long, and after trying to quit a few times this one is sticking, I just want to know what kind of recovery i can expect and the extent of the damage i have done so far.
I'm also 22, im guessing that helps some too, i hope.

You could reasonably expect to have a near full recovery of your lungs within 3 to 6 months.

Evidence is beginning to show that banning smoking in these public places has given rise to an increase to the number of people trying to quit smoking.

Many people don't see tobacco as a drug but it does alter your moods and it will give you a higher risk of many diseases. This is what a drug does and tobacco should be treated as such. Having a strong quit smoking plan will have to include your understanding and admitting to the fact that yes indeed you are an addict. Once you have done this and truly believe this to be the case we are ready to start our quit smoking plan.

We have to make sure that your personal quit smoking plan will include information such as what your new daily routine will be and how you will counteract the urges to smoke. Knowing that you are likely to have tough times you should plan for these, for example if you decide to use nicotine patches, what will you do if you don't get on with the patches, will you revert to another method, perhaps gum? If you don't make these choices up front you are far more likely to fail.

Whenever the cravings come, you can revert to the plan to keep you off the cigarettes. Having a smoke in the morning is a very normal routine for any smoker and we need to make sure that you start your day in a clean and ready to tackle anything attitude! This will keep you safe for the next coming hours till it is time for lunch. When you make your quit smoking plan you may want to consider doing your best to avoid drinking alcohol.

Alcohol will break down your body's nicotine levels and will only make it much harder to stop the habit. So make sure you come to the understanding that alcohol is simply not an option for the coming weeks. This will save you much heartache and can only be a good step towards being tobacco free.

Another key element in your quit smoking plan is the fact that you will want to stay away from anyone that smokes where possible. Seeing someone smoke makes you want it so much more and this is not a good thing to have happen when you are on the wagon. Always keep in mind that the road ahead will be hard but the payoff is simply priceless.
