Has anyone tried Champix (quit-smoking pill)?

I gave up easily in January for 9 weeks before the stress hit and picked up the ciggies again. Started Champix again and hoping to quit for good this time. I went a little nuts last time but am not sure if it was a side effect of the drug or an effect of handling stress without my little nicotine friends. Has anyone else any experience to share about Champix?

I have not tried Champix personally as I am not a smoker, but one of my dad's friend and his wife both tried to quit with Champix at the same time (they thought it would be easier together) but they ended up yelling at each other and at other persons as they became aggressive following the use of Champix. They were really nice persons but really stressed out, and they had adverse effects when they used Champix.

They spoke to their doctor who confirmed Champix could do this (aggressive, depressive mood, etc.) and at the time, there was an advisory on Health Canada's website (they talked about it on TV) which you might want to check out (see link in the reference/source box) to find out more about the possible adverse effects of Champix.

I would say not to worry too much if you have a little more mood swings or aggressivity as quitting is really stressing out your body and the stress and medication are exacerbating the symptoms, but if you are really concerned, you might want to get advice from or talk to your prescribing/family doctor or pharmacist.
