Whats the best way to quit smoking and/or dipping nicotine products.?

I've smoked for years and currently know have been dipping for a while, I don't smoke everyday anymore but a couple of drinks and I'm smoking again. I constantly dip especially when I leave my house. Its like the stress, traffic, heat, work, boredom etc just causes me to do more. What is the best way of quitting this stuff, I'm not exactly a real energetic person but its seems I always have to be doing something or mind altered in some way to deal with the everyday bullshyt. Any suggestions, I'm sure its the nicotine thats probably is causing the stress in the first place.
